About Cryptel
Banking shouldn't have borders.
We started Cryptel in early 2026 with a simple frustration: why is it still so hard to move money across borders? Wire fees, 3-day settlement times, and accounts you can only open if you fly somewhere in person. We thought that was insane.
The problem
Traditional banking infrastructure was built for a world where money moved by mail. SWIFT messages take days. Opening a foreign currency account requires in-person verification, credit checks, and sometimes a local address. For freelancers, startups, and remote teams operating across borders, the system is fundamentally broken.
Our approach
We combine stablecoin rails with traditional banking infrastructure. Your Cryptel account can receive ACH, SEPA, and wire transfers just like a regular bank account — but under the hood, your balance lives in USDB, a dollar-backed stablecoin. This means you get instant settlement, 24/7 availability, and global spending from day one.
Our story
Cryptel was founded in January 2026 by a small team of engineers and fintech operators who'd spent years building payment infrastructure at companies across Europe and the US. We saw stablecoins mature from a crypto-native curiosity into genuine financial infrastructure — fast, cheap, programmable — but the user experience was still terrible. You needed a wallet, a seed phrase, and a willingness to navigate gas fees.
We set out to build the product we wanted for ourselves: a single account that feels like a normal bank, but is powered by stablecoin rails underneath. No seed phrases. No gas fees. Just an account number, a card, and the ability to send and receive money anywhere in the world.
Today, Cryptel serves users in over 150 countries. We're a small, focused team based across London, Lisbon, and remote. We're backed by people who believe the future of money is programmable, instant, and borderless.
